Dreams Accomplished Thanks to BB2

Most hunters who are fathers hope and dream that someday they will be able to see the excitement that comes from hunting and harvesting a big deer with their children.
In my case this is only half the story!
During the 2011 rifle season I was able to have this fatherly dream come true and more. I experienced my father harvest his biggest buck to date and watched my son harvest his first buck. To top it all off, I also took a great buck.
All three deer were big, mature bucks and harvested in the first three days of the season. The three generations of hunters all would agree it couldn’t get any better. I’m sure you are picking up the theme of things coming in “3’s”, but the story is not over yet. We credit the success this season to utilizing deer feed attractant effectively on our farm.
Feeding BB2 Year-Round
We place BB2 on our farm throughout the year, and our herd has not only increased in size, but the quality of the bucks on our farm is unbelievable. We are finally seeing true 140 to 150-inch 3-year old bucks. The mass that our bigger bucks are sporting on their heads is absolutely unreal. The deer that we harvest in the late season are still carrying more than an inch of white back fat. We attract more deer to our property because they know when they need nutrition it’s there for the taking.
Building a Hit List
We are militant about using trail cameras to get to know our deer herd and figure out which bucks will and will not be on the hit list that coming fall. BB2 deer attractant makes it easy to find and pattern the deer on our farm. Not only do deer love the taste, but their bodies crave the nutritional values as well. Basically, we win twice thanks to BB2. To say the least, when we laid eyes on the three bucks that we were fortunate to harvest, there was no doubt who they were when the safety was pushed to off.
Attract the Girls, Intercept the Boys
In the great state of Nebraska you can’t hunt over bait but you can still feed. The law states that the hunter and the deer must be 200 yards or more from the deer feed site. Deer feeds can’t be placed in that area for 60 days prior to the hunt. So we made it simple. We place our ground application feed sites and feeders 350 – 600 yards away. We place our feed site in the middle of our food plots and standing corn fields. We hunt the deer on their way to and from their bedding area in the river bottom. This method of hunting the deer on their travel routes has proven to be very effective for us, even during the rut. I know a lot of you have noticed that during the rut there is only one thing on a big bucks mind and it is certainly not food. But if you get the girls coming in, the bucks are usually not far behind. We credit our good fortune to a year-round plan that has proven success. We know the power of the Brown Bag.
